FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Los Angeles, Feb. 27, 2017) — A longtime participant at the Natural Products Expo West trade show in Anaheim, BSCG (Banned Substances Control Group), a pioneer in dietary supplement certification for banned substances and prescription drugs, is excited to host a booth at this year’s show March 10-12.
Offering industry-leading banned substance and drug contamination protection through its BSCG Certified Drug Free® program, BSCG has expanded its services by adding two new certification programs, BSCG Certified Quality™ and BSCG Certified GMP™. Each of BSCG’s certification programs is available to any level of the natural product or supplement industries including finished product brands, ingredient suppliers, and manufacturing facilities.
“We’ve have been pleased to introduce these new programs to help increase consumer and athlete supplement protection and to offer brands a one-stop shop for their certification needs,” said Oliver Catlin, BSCG President. “We look forward to sharing more information about these new offerings in person at Expo West with those at all levels of the industry.”
The BSCG Certified Drug Free® testing menu continues to lead the supplement certification industry with coverage for 483 drugs, more than double its leading competitors. Of this total, 272 substances are banned in sport, and 211 are prescription, over-the-counter (OTC) or illicit drugs. BSCG not only tests for more banned substances in sport than any other supplement certification provider but remains the only one to offer protection against a range of drugs not banned in sport, making it the clear choice for third-party certification and testing.
The BSCG Certified Drug Free® program offers optional add-on testing for animal supplements focusing on equine and canine prohibited substances including drugs banned by the Federation Equine International (FEI) and the Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Association (TOBA). BSCG is the only third-party group to tailor its banned substance certification to the protection of animal supplements.
The new BSCG Certified Quality™ program provides third-party confirmation of the quality, integrity, purity, and strength of ingredients or finished products independently, or a sampling of those used or produced in manufacturing facilities. BSCG conducts laboratory analysis to verify raw material or finished product quality control specifications and substantiate label claims. This program also includes testing for the presence of environmental contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, solvents, and microbiological agents.
The new BSCG Certified GMP™ program focuses on evaluating compliance with 21 C.F.R. 111 Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) by conducting onsite audits of manufacturing facilities, or in the case of finished products, evaluating the process involved in verifying product quality and integrity. GMP helps ensure that natural products and dietary supplements are produced consistently and according to established quality control guidelines.
A leading trade show in the natural, organic, and healthy products industry, Natural Products Expo West attracts 77,000 industry professionals and 3,000 exhibits. This year, the main show will be held March 10 – 12 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. BSCG will be found at booth 1122.
