BSCG Certified Drug Free®

Testing Menu – November 20141,2,3,4,5

BSCG includes testing for more than 392 drugs including more than 207 banned in sport and 185 prescription and over-the-counter drugs not banned in sport. We cover more compounds banned in sport than any other certification provider and are proud to be the first to offer testing for drugs beyond those banned in sport expanding the protection our program offers.

The testing menu below separates compounds banned in sport from those that are not. Compounds banned in sport have been organized using the categories in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List. The menu covers drugs banned by most major sporting groups including the NFL, MLB, NHL, MLS, NBA, PGA, LPGA, NCAA, NASCAR and others. Compounds not banned in sport include the general category in which the drug fits.

1. Although the above lists contain many compounds included in BSCG’s testing menu, they are not intended as exhaustive lists. BSCG regularly analyzes for additional compounds or classes not listed here. For example, approximately 27 corticosteroid compounds not listed here are routinely included in our sports testing menu. BSCG reserves the right to make any and all additions, subtractions or adjustments to these lists that it deems appropriate for any reason at any time.

2. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Category column shows the class of the compound as shown on the WADA Prohibited List. This drug-class category column is used to organize the testing menu into the separate drug classes banned in sport. These compounds are also banned by most other sporting groups and leagues including NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, MLS, PGA, LPGA, NCAA, NASCAR and others. Compounds not banned in sport are organized according to their general category of function for reference purposes, some compounds may fit into other categories not listed.

3. BSCG has established Method Detection Levels which represent the amount, in parts per billion (ng/g), above which a compound can be identified in a representative dietary supplement matrix. More than 180 compounds have been validated according to ISO 17025 standards with Method Detection Levels established at a low 10ng/g for most compounds with the remaining compounds in the 50-500ng/g range. Detection levels in unique product formulas may be lower or higher than established Method Detection Levels for certain compounds due to matrix variation. BSCG checks method performance in each unique product formula during product validation. Actual method detection limits, defined as the lowest quantity of a substance that can be distinguished from the absence of that substance using a particular method, are generally lower than established Method Detection Levels.
4. Method Detection Levels were established using extractions tailored to groups of compounds based on their chemistry. Method Detection Levels are subject to the capabilities of the extraction used for the analysis. While each extraction is capable of detecting compounds for which it was not designed, the extent of the capabilities has not been fully explored. Method Detection Levels for compounds with similar chemistry to those that have been validated is expected to be in the 10-500ng/g range, but this performance cannot be guaranteed.
5. Testing for equines and canines will include qualitative screening for approximately 1,200 drugs including most of the drugs on the “Equine Prohibited Substances List” as defined by the Federation Equine International (FEI).
