BSCG created the BSCG Certified CBD program as the first international third-party certification for the CBD product industry that focuses on banned substances and drug testing protection along with product quality and manufacturing. Our rigorous certification approach ensures product quality and increases consumer confidence and awareness while providing assurance to drug tested athletes or professionals that use of the product will not violate anti-doping rules. The program includes supplier verification, cannabinoids and environmental contaminant testing, testing for 450+ drugs including 400 from the WADA Prohibited List as well as 50 other pharmaceutical contaminants. A compliance review that considers claims and the manufacturing quality control process is also included.
A note on THC – THC, the psychoactive chemical in cannabis, is one of the biggest concerns when it comes to CBD products. Consumers want to know, can I get ‘high’ or can I test positive on a drug test using this CBD product? The answer with our certified products is no. We address the concerns by applying a daily dose limit on THC based on product suggested use that is designed to keep urine levels of THC well below any thresholds used in sport or workplace drug testing. At the levels we allow, no psychoactive effects are expected.
The BSCG Certified CBD program answers key questions about CBD products with science and application of a consistent ongoing testing regiment. Good Manufacturing Practices, quality management system, product claims and labels are audited and evaluated as part of the initial certification process.

CERTIFIED QUALITY
Designed for consumer protection and retail compliance this annual testing program verifies product quality for retailers and consumers. Testing includes label claims, heavy metals, pesticides, microbiological agents and more than 450 banned substances. An initial quality control and compliance audit for GMP or other relevant regulations is included. Certified Quality is not designed for anti-doping protection.
CERTIFIED CBD
Designed for CBD products this program combines banned substance protection, label claim and contaminant testing, and an initial review of manufacturing quality control and compliance in one program. Every lot is tested for 450+ banned substances and cannabinoids to verify CBD claims and THC limits for drug testing protection with every tenth lot screened for heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiological agents.
CERTIFIED GMP
Built to verify own label distributors or ingredient brands are in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for dietary supplements, OTC drugs, or cosmetics. The program audits brand level GMP requirements or those that are non-specific between brands and manufacturers. It also takes a deep dive into product level compliance including labels, claims, ingredients, and the quality control process.
Certified Facility
Facility certification program that conducts onsite audits of manufacturing, packaging, or holding facilities to ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for dietary supplements including 21 CFR 110, 111, and 117. We can also audit to other GMP guidelines for OTC drugs or cosmetics. Two year audit cycle offered with experienced independent auditors.
